On-Line Thread Measurements
The thread measuring module extends the plain on-line module to measure the effective diameters of threads, with automatic compensation for thread angle and contact pressure of probes or wires.
The software can be set to accommodate a variety of different methods of measuring both internal and external threads. It calculates the optimum wire size (or ruby sphere diameter) from the parameters entered for the gauge and then allows selection from the available inventory.
Calculations of effective diameter are carried out internally applying the equations developed by Berndt. Compensations for elastic compression at the contact points of the thread wires and probe are calculated according to the equations developed by Puttock and Thwaite.
